John Piper

A blog I read featured this sermon today from John Piper: “Sustained by Sovereign Grace—Forever.”  He preached it originally back in June of 1996.  It was a great help to me today.  Perhaps it will be to you as well.

The poem in the picture directly above comes from this sermon. It’s all about God’s amazing grace and His unique ability to love us not so much by preventing the storms of life, but by guiding us along and accomplishing His great purposes through every one of them.

Piper has written elsewhere that,

“The sovereignty of God is a most precious doctrine. It is the strong wood of the tree that keeps our lives from being blown over by the winds of adversity. It is the rock that rises for us out of the flood of uncertainty and confusion. It is the eye of the hurricane where we stand with God and look up into the blue sky of his mastery when everything is being destroyed.” (From his book, Taste and See“)

Question for you:

Have you been helped by a sermon lately?  If so which one and who preached it.  Do share…especially if its one available for free somewhere online.
